I’m Claire, the person behind Walk with Claire Pet Care. I offer solo and maximum-two dog walks in Stubbington and Hill Head for dogs who are happier with a calmer, more individual kind of walk.

Some dogs love a busy group. Plenty do not. The dogs I am especially drawn to are the older ones who would rather sniff than sprint, the rescues still working things out, and the dogs who can feel overwhelmed by too much noise, speed or company.

My job is not to make every dog fit the same walk. It is to notice what this dog needs today and shape the walk around them.

Why I started Walk with Claire

I wanted to offer the kind of dog walking service I would choose for my own dog: small, personal, unhurried and built around the individual dog rather than a large group.

Dogs have always been part of my life.

I know how much trust it takes to hand your dog over to someone else. You are not simply booking a walk. You are trusting someone with a member of your family, often with a house key too.

That is why I keep the service deliberately small. I do not use a team of walkers and I do not run large pack walks. Your dog sees me every time, and I get to know the details that matter: what makes them hesitate, what helps them relax, which routes they enjoy and how much interaction feels right for them.

I also tell you honestly how they got on. If they were unsettled, tired, distracted or simply wanted to potter and sniff, I would rather tell you that than give you a polished version of the walk.

My approach

Calm, observant and individual.

Older and senior dogs

I am happy to slow the walk down, shorten the route and give an older dog time to sniff, pause and enjoy being outside without pressure to keep moving.

Nervous and rescue dogs

I keep things quiet and predictable, give dogs space where they need it and avoid forcing interactions simply because another dog is nearby.

Dogs who dislike pack walks

Some dogs are simply happier solo or with one carefully matched companion. I never walk four, five or six dogs together.

Dogs returning after illness or surgery

Where your vet has advised that walking is appropriate, I can follow a slower, shorter or lead-only routine and keep the outing calm.

A life built around animals

The Pet Loss Studio is part of that story too.

I also created The Pet Loss Studio, where I support people through pet bereavement. It grew from my own experience of loving and losing my dogs, and from understanding just how deeply animals become part of our lives.

I include it here because it is part of why I care so much about the trust involved in looking after someone else’s dog. I know that a dog is never “just a dog” to the person waiting for them to come home.

Qualified, insured and accountable.

Warmth matters, but so does doing the practical side of the job properly. Walk with Claire is fully insured, I am DBS checked, and I hold an Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) qualification through ProTrainings.
