Quiet, gentle walks for dogs who'd rather not join the pack.

If your dog is nervous, getting on a bit, or simply prefers their own company, I understand. Every walk is unhurried, one to one, and built around your dog's confidence rather than a timetable. And I'll always tell you honestly how they got on.

Hi, I'm Claire.

Some dogs love a noisy pack. Plenty don't. The dogs I walk are usually the second kind. The older ones who'd rather sniff than sprint. The rescues still working things out. The ones who get overwhelmed by other dogs, or bikes, or men in hats.

I started this because I couldn't find the right walker for my own dogs. Then I realised friends and neighbours were in the same boat. Their dogs had come from a shelter, or been rescued from abroad, or were simply too old now to keep up with a pack, and dogs like that are easy to overlook. They still need their walk. They just need someone alongside them who's paying attention, guiding them and caring for them, because to me that's as much a part of the walk as the walk itself.

My own dog taught me that no two dogs want the same walk. Some love adventure. Others just want time to sniff, pause and feel safe. Those are the ones I love walking.

I keep walks small. Never more than two dogs, and only ever from the same household, unless I know the two dogs are a good match and both owners are happy for them to walk together. It's just how I think dogs deserve to be walked when they need a bit more care.

Before I take any dog out, we meet somewhere calm first, usually your local park, with your dog there too, though if getting there is tricky we can meet somewhere you feel comfortable instead. No charge, no pressure. You see how I am with your dog, your dog gets to know me at their own pace, and you can ask me anything. If it doesn't feel right, that's fine. Better to know.

What I can help with

Every walk is one or two dogs, never more. Here's what that looks like in practice.

One dog, on their own

For dogs who really don't want company, or simply need full attention.

Two dogs together

From the same home, or two I've already met who I know get on well.

Senior walks

Slower, shorter if needed. Led by what your dog feels like that day, not the clock.

Cats and small pets

Feeding, water, litter, a bit of company. Long enough that they actually notice me.

Quick let-outs

For dogs who just need a midday break and a garden visit rather than a full walk.

Straightforward, no surprises

What owners have said

"Since I started working from home, Bella has been by my side all day, and I could see she wasn't herself coming back from her walks. She gets nervous around lots of other dogs. Finding Claire has been such a relief. She gives Bella so much attention and confidence that it's like she's just out walking with me."

Karsten Bella, 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel

"Daisy is very nervous with people, and it's just the two of us at home, so I'd never been able to get away overnight to see family. Claire's gentle way with her meant they bonded quickly, and Daisy stayed calm and felt safe the whole time I was away. It's the first time I've been able to go with an easy mind."

Veronica Daisy, 12-year-old cat

"Beany is the softest, sweetest dog, but he came to us terrified of people and other dogs, and he needed someone with him every second of a walk. Claire kept other dogs at a gentle distance and stayed so calm and patient with him. Over time his trust grew, and walks that used to be stressful became easy. He's a more confident little dog now."

Suzy Beany, rescue dog

"Arthur is a proper old gentleman now and can't walk far, but he still loves being out in the world. Claire gets that completely. On his tired days she takes him out in his pram just to sniff the air and watch the sea and sky, and on his good days it's a slow meander with all the time he wants to stop and sniff. He always comes home happy."

Tom and Mary Arthur, senior labrador

Let's meet first, no pressure

I know handing your dog or cat to someone new asks a lot of trust, so there's no rush and nothing to commit to. Tell me a little about them below and we'll arrange a free meet and greet at the park, where you can see how I am with them, ask me anything, and let your dog decide how they feel about me. You decide what happens next, and only if it feels right.
